A homeless bird
Li Jin Class 4, Grade 3
There is an old man who lives in a big town. He has a nice bird and has been living with that bird for five years. Every day the bird sings to him and he always feels very happy.
One day, the old man decided to let the bird free. He wanted the bird to go back to the forest and made it happy. So he went to the forest. He opened the cage and the bird flew out. It was flying in the sky happily and began to look for a new home. A few minutes later, the bird came back to the cage sadly, because there were no trees for it to make a new home. The trees were all cut down and there were no other birds. The environment was badly destroyed and it was not fit for living any more.
It seems an interesting story, but it’s really popular and important. Today pollution has become a very serious problem. Because more and more trees are cut down; forests are becoming smaller and smaller. The wind is becoming stronger and stronger. Many lands have been turned into deserts.
I think we must protect the environment, because we have just only one earth. We should plant more trees and flowers to make our city greener and more beautiful.
My dear friends, it is time for us to take action. Let’s work together to make our city the richest and most beautiful of all.
A Farmer And His Two Sons

Once upon a time, there was a farmer. He had two sons. He was a very diligent man, but his sons were so lazy.
Several years later, the farmer became very old. He told his sons that he had left a lot of gold in the grape garden and after he would die, they could dig it out.
The farmer died after two months. The two brothers began to dig for the gold. They turned the ground over and over, but they couldn’t find anything.
In the coming year, because the ground was turned over several times by the two brothers, the grapes grew very well. The brothers took the grapes to the market to sell and they got a lot of money. Then they bought a new yard and built a new house.
At last the two brothers understood the gold which their father had left in the garden. It wasn’t real gold, but it was more expensive than the gold. It was their hands and it was diligence. Then the two brothers worked much harder than before and became richer and richer.
Basketball

Basketball is still a young game. It is just a hundred years old. In the winter of 1891, a certain college was having trouble with his boy students, the weather was so terrible that the students had to stay indoors. Since they could not enjoy their sports outside as usual, they were unhappy,and some of them even got into flights from time to time.
It was a fast, interesting game with much moving and passing of the ball. It was played between two teams. To make a score, the ball had to be thrown into a basket ten feet high above the floor on the wall. At each end of the court there was a such basket. That is how the game got its name.
Boys And Girls Are Equal.
There is an old woman in my village. I call her granny. She is more than 60 and she has a granddaughter and a grandson. She loves her grandson very much, but she doesn’t love the girl at all.
Chinese Food

Chinese food is very popular in the world. In many cities you can find Chinese restaurants. People enjoy Chinese food because it has different tastes and is rich in nutrition. At the same time, it is very delicious.
There are many kinds of food in China and different places have different food. In the north of China, people eat cooked wheaten food, while people eat rice in the south. In the east of China, people eat seafood while people eat highland barley in the west.
If you want to eat more delicious Chinese food, you may go to Beijing, the capital of China. There you caneat all kinds of Chinese food, such as the rice-noodles of Yunnan, hotpot of Chongqing, seafood of Guangdong, tea with milk of Tibet, the beef of Inner Mongolia, and so on. We can say there are 56 nations in China, but there are more than 56 kinds of food. That’s why more foreigners like to eat Chinese food. I can say if you can know some knowledge of Chinese food, you will under the culture of China a lot. This is the most important point of Chinese food.
Man’s Best Friend

In America, people say “man’s best friend”. They do not mean another person. They are talking about a lovely animal, a dog! Dogs and other pets can give happiness to people’ life. Some people take pets as their children.
Animals can help people, too. Dogs can be taught to become the “eyes” for the blind or “ears” for the deaf. Scientists have found that pets help people live longer. They make people happier, too. Because of that, animals are brought into hospitals for “visits”.
If you have a pet, take more time to play with it. Remember to give it delicious food. If you don’t have a pet, be kind to animals around you. If you see a street dog, don’t kick it or throw things at it. If others around you do bad things to animals, try to stop them. As people, we must protect animals.
Sports

All over the world people enjoy sports. sports help to keep people healthy ,happy and living longer.
Many people like to watch others play games. They buy tickets or turn on their TVs to watch the games. They often get very excited when their player or team wins.
Sports change with the seasons. People play different games in winter and in summer. Swimming is fun in warm weather, but skating is good in winter.
Sports and games often grow out of people’ work and everyday activities. The Arabs use horses or camals a lot in their daily life. They use them in sports too. It’s the same with people in Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia in China.
Some sports or games go back to thousands of years ago, such as running, jumping. Chinese Wushu, for example, has a very long history. But basketball and volleyball are rather new. Neither one is a hundred years old yet. People are interested in new sports and games all the time. Water-skiing is one of the most in the family of sports.
People from different countries may not be able understand each other, but after a game , they may become friends. Sports help to train a person’s character. One learns to flight hand ,but flights fair to win without pride and to lose with grace.
The Language Of English

English is the most widely used language in the world and now has become an international language. It is taught in most of schools in China. Many students want to learn it well, but somebody thinks that studying English is very hard. Is it true? If you try your best, the hardest thing will become easy. If you don’t, the easiest thing will become hard. But how to study English well is still a problem. According to my experience, you must get up early in the morning , go to school, read the text loudly and try to remember it.
Practice makes perfect. In the English class,you must listen to the teacher carefully. After school, you can read some books in English and you should also do some exercises. If you do that, your English will become better and better. |
